Unlike Family Guy, when American Dad does edgy shock content, there’s actual purpose for it and it also has much more wit. In some cases like with Stan’s Best Friend, it’s even used to convey a message to its viewers. Meanwhile with Family Guy, it’s only done for cheap laughs.
