Demand for new housing in the #wimmerasouthernmallee clear in the latest census results! During 2016-21 the region's population grew by 2.3% and occupied homes by 3.8% - a result of new residents to the region, some loss of stock and continuing low household sizes.

>78% of our region’s homes have 3 or more bdrms & < 20% of homes have 2 bdrms or less measured by #wimmerasouthernmallee 2021 census results. A greater proportion of modern housing with fewer bdrms will assist housing requirements to more closely align to changing resident needs.

Latest 2021 census results indicate the proportion of our 65 & over population is 51% higher than state average. This comes with uniquely different housing needs & demands. Diversifying the region's smaller housing stock is essential in providing for our ageing population.
