Update: Prometric has assured us any future cancellation emails will include specific information about the affected appointments. Follow up emails with this additional specific information will be resent to those candidates who have received prior cancellations.
Starting early next week, the
#USMLE
program will be extending eligibility periods (EPs) for all Step 1, 2 CK & 3 examinees with an unexpired EP with an end date in 2020 (regardless of test region). EPs will be extended automatically. Visit for more.

Some examinees are receiving confirmation emails for previously canceled Prometric appointments. The USMLE program is actively working with Prometric to resolve this situation and will provide an update as soon as possible

Prometric announced today that test centers in the U.S. & Canada will be closed for a period of 30 days, starting March 18. The USMLE program is working on a plan to extend the eligibility periods of all examinees impacted. Visit our website for details .

Prometric announced that they will continue closures in the U.S. and Canada through May 31st with the exception of essential service programs. USMLE is considered an essential program and will resume testing beginning May 1 in some locations.

We're working w/CSEC staff to contact & reschedule examinees who were impacted by CSEC closures. In addition, the USMLE program is urging schools & programs to waive or adopt flexible guidelines for meeting exam requirements. Visit our COVID-19 FAQ page
Examinees who received a Prometric email confirming a previously cancelled testing appointment will receive an updated confirmation email reflecting accurate appointment info. Those who rescheduled within the last 24 hours can check Prometric’s website to verify your date.
