Starmer pushes a UK-led peace plan on Gaza, urging Trump to act but he's still withholding recognition of Palestine. Delay is costing lives. This caution may win votes, but it isn't feeding the starving.

The Lionesses have done it again. A comeback, extra-time tension, and a nerve-wracking penalty shootout to defend their Euro title. It wasn’t just a win, it was history made with grit, grace and absolute steel. We’ll be talking about this one for years!

The UN's top court has ruled that failing to act on climate change may violate international law, affirming a sustainable environment as a human right. Though nonbinding, the ICJ opinion strengthens the legal ground for climate action and future claims.

Portugal became the first European country to offer paid menstrual leave specifically for those diagnosed with endometriosis or adenomyosis - up to 3 days a month, fully paid. It's a landmark recognition of chronic pain that's long been sidelined. A feminist win in policy form.

Morning thought: everyone seems politically exhausted, but the elections keep coming (and disappointing?). Democracy is starting to feel less hopeful and more like admin, which has us wondering, maybe the real threat isn't extremism but the collective shrug society gives politics

Ghislaine Maxwell has reportedly offered to testify before Congress about Epstein's sex trafficking operation. If true, this could mark a significant moment in the pursuit of accountability, but will Congress accept? What might this testimony mean for justice and transparency?

I was moved and affected after recently seeing Sophie Gilbert speak with Pandora Sykes for @TheTroubleClub about Girl on Girl: How Pop Culture Turned a Generation of Women Against Themselves. I write why it is among this year's most essential books: https://t.co/enNX8JCWzU

Reading the news as normal this morning, and started wondering, is disengagement from politics always apathy - or just a form of self-defence? I'm asking because the news feels like a psychological experiment lately.

Iga Świațek just dropped a double bagel in the Wimbledon final - the first since 1911!! Anisimova fought her way to her first Slam final and still walks away a star. Princess Kate handing over the trophy? A moment. Wimbledon really gave us a weekend to remember.

Another morning thought on behalf of the Trouble team: this time, 'weaponised incompetence'. Why does it hit such a nerve? Maybe because patriarchy isn't always loud, sometimes its just pretending not to know how the washing machine works...

🙏Thank you to @TheTroubleClub and Ellie Newton for hosting @Chloe_chc_25 at @MagicCircleHQ in #London and allowing her to share her story. "I will never stop fighting for freedom in #HongKong because that is what the authorities want me to do. It's my way of fighting back."💪

Chloe Cheung at Trouble (08/07): "This is the point where I woke up and I changed. Because of the unfairness and the injustice that I witnessed [...] I don't want to step back, that is what they want".

Chloe Cheung at Trouble (08/07): "We are just human beings, we are not metal, we cannot just let police shoot at us [...] I was really mad that what I had been learning at school was fake; I really thought that I was going to a peaceful protest".

Chloe Cheung at Trouble (08/07): "As a Hong Konger, I grew up in Hong Kong, I had a responsibility and a duty to the country that I love ... it's not just about my life, it's about everyone's lives".

You thought it couldn’t get any worse, but the most widespread miscarriage of justice in British legal history just got wider, says Guardian columnist Marina Hyde

Nearly 350 people have died waiting for justice in the Post Office scandal. The inquiry's first report lands today, laying bare the scale of harm. Compensation has slowed to its lowest point this year and justice still appears to be years off.

P Diddy beats a woman on CCTV and people still defend him. Beating a woman isn’t shocking anymore; domestic abuse is normalised, and she probably “deserved” it. This is misogyny in plain sight. Woman-hating has gone mainstream.
