I thought about a sorta, timeline of the events taken place in the first promotional piece Korn provided. How did it all come to this? It had to have its reasons.

No matter Sage's position, They would always fight for righteousness and be renowned in a legacy as the immortal saviours for many years to follow until a new era of heroes would emerge from their own and take a stance against Sage's empire. One day, even she will be defeated.

The world was taken over, presumably lost, but one thing was clear to them, that they would never bend their heads to the operating system that stepped into her father's footsteps to finalise the mad scientists feared among their kind. +

Eventually, they even came across an old exemplar of Metal Sonic, repairing and reprogramming it to their own advantages. Fighting along with them as the next generation of heroes, the last resistance. +

Eventually, he searched and regrouped with Shadow and Omega, finding them as the last standing leg against the endless floods of Sage's empire. Scrapping through old abandoned Eggman basis, they retrieved any machinery or weapon that could withstand Sage's creations. +

With time passing on, ages raising and so growing the heroes older, eventually only the younger heroes were left, that making up Tails, Cream and Charmy. They regrouped and formed a new union of protectors to defend earth for many more years to come. +

Sonic, as the spiritual figurehead known by generations to come, passed his duty onto his friends to continue unfolding the mad doctors plan. But such as age works, even Eggman eventually put his legacy behind and gave it into the hands of his greatest creation to date - Sage.

I'd like to think that, before Silver took over his duty as the next hero in the unforeseen future after Sonic's imminent death. It was actually his next kin, Tails and sometimes the rest of his former team, Knuckles and Amy, who too duty in fighting off Sage's new found forces +
