Man, sometimes it just hits me how grateful I am to be Catholic. I never saw it coming. It was never my life’s goal . I thought I could find love, purpose and meaning some other way. But man plans, God laughs, and sends me to a Mass (which I had planned to pick apart, the way).

Being resentful about things that happened before our time is the ultimate form of narcissism . A million (or more) historical accidents and events had to happen exactly as they did for you and I to even exist. How about being grateful we’re alive rather than resentful that.

I’ve been sober, pharma-free, celibate and chaste for quite some time now. At 50, my testosterone levels are higher than they were in my 20s. I have energy, focus and drive that I once thought had long passed me by. And yes, it is beyond worth it

I believe that in order to be a successful politician today, you must have at least some psychopathic tendencies. You must appear empathetic while having little to no empathy. You must call yourself religious without fully abiding to any religion. Expediency outweighs principle.

Lying, cheating and stealing are not “mistakes”. A mistake is an honest miscalculation in an attempt to do the right thing. Claiming a “mistake” was made when it was in reality a self-centered bad decision is nothing more than manipulation. I did this plenty of times in a former.

Last week, I experienced a terrible migraine for 3 days. They have been occurring with more frequency lately . Today, I am experiencing vertigo. My blood and CT-scan show perfect health. Perhaps this is spiritual. Please pray for my relief from and/or my strength to bear it.

We are commanded to love God with all that we have and all that we are. We can’t obey this commandment while attempting to retain the need to be right about everything. The greatest argument, the greatest sermon and the greatest example all have one thing in common: they are.

I don’t know that I’d fully appreciate the value of peace if I didn’t know the agony of pain. Purpose can be found in pain if that pain ultimately helps others navigate the waters we’ve already navigated. The best way to remember the way out of it all is to help others to get.
