CORNES | When I came back from GWS it was the end goal to make it to the defensive coach role at Port Adelaide. I loved the development role at the club, but this was always the next step. I couldn’t be happier in this role.

LAIRD | On Clayton Oliver potentially to the Crows: I think if you ask 99.9% of the AFL players, you’re probably saying it’s a good get. Obviously, it’s fairly early and there’s a lot of water under the bridge…He’s a superstar, and it’d be fantastic to be playing with him.

EDDIE BETTS | We always knew personally that we were going to move back (to Melbourne). It was all about timing really. Some of my best memories are in Adelaide, I played some of my best footy. But I thought it was best to come back and finish it all where it all started.

They offered me a deal at some stage of the year, but it wasn’t great. I said I’d rather work another job, earn that cash in a couple years and look after my body.
