Two grants submitted and now I’m going to enjoy the last few beach days of 2025.

A year later and we finally finished the book with my youngest son. Scientist Dad Win!
I’ve been reading, “The Good, the Bad, and the Slimy: The Secret life of Microbes” with my 5 year old son (his choice). After reading about the bubonic plague and the dysentery Napoleon’s troops went through, my son said, “I don’t think this book is for me”.

It’s always fun when I fix something in the lab. Even though I sit behind a desk all day, it feels good to remind my trainees that I still got it. 😂

It’s Monday, NSYNC just came on while I’m writing grants, and yes, I am singing “Bye, Bye, Bye” to my sanity (and possibly the NIH). Every time this happens, I remember this poll where people picked BSB over NSYNC… and I’m reminded that democracy sometimes has its flaws. 😂
Okay I need help settling an argument. Who was better? *side note, why do these things come to me when I’m working on a grant?

Ten years ago, my oldest son would come to the lab with me and watch me count "circles," aka viral plaques. Now he's shadowing members of my lab and working on college applications.
