It was Izak Rankine’s fault he didn’t play last night. No one else’s. Homophobic comments on field should be called out and punished - and will continue to be.

My interview on RRR about the importance of Mitch Brown’s coming out. If anything, my Monday morning voice post-playing footy is worth the laugh https://t.co/idPtEO3wLA

Unfortunately the booing of Quaynor is proving the point of so many that believe the AFL is not ready for an openly gay player on the field. Adelaide fans that are booing are saying so much more about themselves than they are about anything else. #aflcrowspies

Some responses to those questioning the importance of Mitch Brown’s coming out: - “who cares?”. Me. I care. Lots. - Don’t want politics in football?Sexuality is not politics, it’s humanity. - Don’t want to know what he does in the bedroom? That’s ok - no one’s inviting you in.

It’s sensational Mitch has come to a place where he feels confident & safe enough to talk about this. It’s such an important step and not only will it help the next generation of players, it will also help educate those he played alongside Congratulations and thank you, Mitch

Not many out gay men with a history in Aussie rules, which makes Mike O’Donnell (@TheMikeOD 👏) an important voice amid lots of noise surrounding Izak Rankine and the latest #AFL homophobic slur incident. Don’t be distracted by Snoop Dogg. For @outsports

The AFL has banned Adelaide Crows’ Izak Rankine for four games, after a drawn-out investigation process into a gay slur.

Izak Rankine has accepted his punishment and acknowledged his wrongdoing. He is not to blame for the AFL changing their mind regarding the punishment. There is no need to continue to hurl abuse in his direction. We hope he learns, and we move on.

I’ve been reminded that it’s two years since I featured on the 4 Corners episode “The Silence” on homophobia in football. Feels pretty relevant today. The full episode is available on iView or YouTube https://t.co/tzl2elfMSb

The Rankine punishment being drawn out creates another day of media and vile social media comments. That’s what young kids are reading. I recognise everyone deserves due process, but the extended process helps nobody - especially young LGBTQ+ people. Parameters were set.

Unsure if “homophobic language is ok if you get a bit angry” is the best argument to go with
Exclusive: Adelaide's submission to the AFL contains the defence that a war of words on Saturday night with Dan Houston led to Rankine being triggered after the ex-Power star referenced knocking him out in last year's Showdown

Had to say thanks to the bloke in the St Kilda top at the gym - I’ve just anger-lifted my PB in every exercise.

Melbourne should absolutely appeal the tribunal’s May decision. For the sake of the game.

I have to say I completely agree with Dani here. Online training modules do not cut it. Differences get made when you genuinely learn about people and make connections - that can’t be done through a few tick-box exercises. The AFL is dropping the ball here.
Dani Laidley has slammed the AFL over its anti-homophobia education, saying the league hasn’t taken it seriously – doing tremendous harm to any gay players and staff. READ 👉 https://t.co/2K8kUUeEXZ
