There is truly no one better than Jeff in New York State for girls basketball. He bleeds the game and the girls of the Empire State are extremely lucky to have his coverage. Maybe I’ll get you down to a couple PSAL games at some point too 🤞🏻.

Awesome to see the success of @ChrisChavez. In Paris for the Olympics and being one of the go to track and field writers in the U.S. I remember him years ago walking into St. Francis Prep and meeting me to cover a high school basketball game. You’ve come a long way. Very proud!.

Not a media member anymore but if you are a media member, don’t take pictures with college coaches during AAU events and post them on social media. It’s makes you look like you do this for clout. If your face isn’t known but your words are, that shows you are good at what you do.

From the outhouse to the penthouse. Don’t comment on coaching changes usually but this is not just a home run, it’s a grand slam shot for the Gaels. Haven’t had the right coach in a while but KC will turn it around under Matthews who is smart, charismatic, young, and dedicated.

Athlete of the Year is a fun debate. For me you have to play multiple sports to be considered for that title. Tough choice but slight edge to Fitzsimons for me. NYS POY in Football & 2nd Team All-State in Basketball. Great athletes in Section 1. 1- Fitzsimons.2- Picart.3- Brennan.
After some lengthy discussions we came up with a list of finalists for the lohud Whelan All-Sports Awards. You can vote for athlete of the year.
