It began in 2012 with an idea: Why not rethink the space beneath a #HydroCorridor.🌼Since then, with the support of The Weston Family Foundation, #TheMeadoway has undergone remarkable transformations to create vibrant habitats for wildlife and greenspace for communities to enjoy!

Ever wonder how plants survive the #winter? In short, they go to sleep! ❄️🌱As winter arrives, plants enter a rest period called dormancy. During this time, their metabolism slows down and conserves energy to get through the cold months, so they'll be ready to grow in the spring!

The female #GallFly lays her eggs inside the plant, and when the larvae hatch, they cause the plant to grow a protective gall around them. These galls provide food and shelter for the larvae, keeping them safe through the winter.❄️In spring, the larvae will emerge as adult flies!.

If you've been out exploring #TheMeadoway this fall, you’ve probably noticed some strange, ping-pong-sized growths on the goldenrod stems. 🧐 These odd-looking bumps are called #galls, and they’re formed by insects like the #goldenrod gall fly! 🪰
