On their 1950 London Library joining form, “Miss” is crossed out and replaced with the name they lived and worked by: Gluck. Known for evocative portraits and still life, Gluck’s work explored themes of love, identity, and self-expression.

A 1950s joining form for the artist Gluck shows that rejecting gender norms is nothing new. #PrideMonth. Gluck (1895–1978) was a trailblazing artist and lifelong defier of convention. Born Hannah Gluckstein, they rejected both their forename and gendered titles.
