I wanted to learn electrochemistry so we electrolyzed seawater to minimize chlorine evolution reaction which is detrimental to alkaline electrolyzers. Since I am an organic chemist, of course we use amphiphilic diamines to sequestrate chloride ions!

We need to either adjust carbon accounting to weigh CO2 sources differently. Or adopt a “capture all CO2” approach, regardless of the source. Both approaches have merits but require careful consideration of economics, technology, and environmental impact.

When it burns biomass it is considered carbon negative although the biomass we burn generate the same co2 and release it to the atmosphere.

This beautiful incineration plant around Copenhagen doesn’t have economic needs in capturing its carbon emission due to the carbon accounting system. every CO2 molecule affects our atmosphere the same way. Our policies should reflect the chemistry of it not just sources.
