Tech is a rewarding field, agreed.
Should we encourage more people to join? Yes.
But all this "if you know what is good for yourself, better join tech" sentiment that some of you have started manifesting is weird and irritating af!
I am currently in a class where they are teaching people close to 50 years python, and it's so amazing because they are asking questions and they love what is going on 😃😃
So if you like as a young person be sleeping on tech.
Finally, tech is an industry with a lot of non-tech fields that are almost, if not just, as rewarding.
Glorify if you want to, but please leave people to their choices.
Selah!

I have been resisting the urge to ask for a spot with all the offers flying around.
Nobody go pressure me biko.
A lot of people will get it for the wrong reasons now.
@TheIfedolapo
The current pressure to enter tech feels like the way many people in previous generations pressured people to get into medicine & engineering. Tech isn't for everyone and many people won't be good at it. It's best if people find their niche & play to their strengths/interests.

>We still lack infrastructure and policies as well. We can’t really “tech” that away. I saw a very wonderful idea that helps victims connect with hospitals…but no infrastructural backbone. Such ideas die eventually.
