This might be a stretch, but the two nationally-ranked Group of Five teams have one very important thing in common. Voters saw that they beat a SEC team.

UNLV & Navy receiving more votes than Tulane is odd, too. Their SOS is bottom 10 in the nation. San Diego State has the same # of votes despite a blowout loss to Wazzu (not a top 10 team)

I cannot figure out why AP voters dislike Tulane. Everything they like about SEC teams’ SOS/SOR they are ignoring about the Tulane because of 1 loss to Ole Miss. SOR: Top 20. SOS: Top 50 Only G5 with multiple P4 wins. But Illinois can lose by 53 and that’s ok.

Conference USA has effectively been eliminated from CFP contention with WKU’s loss to FIU. I can’t see a scenario where the MAC or CUSA receive a bid unless the AAC/MWC/SBC severely cannibalize.

To the folks who wanted WKU in my G5 Top 10…not looking good. Hilltoppers trail FIU 25-6 at home entering the 4th quarter. WKU has not looked the same offensively since the Toledo game, and it’s finally catching up to them tonight.
