The major works in the restoration of the Garbhagriha of Cholakkara Durga temple in Malappuram are over. The restoration of the temple kitchen is ongoing. We would like to thank everyone who supported the revival of this ancient temple which was destroyed during 1921 Moplah

@TheGopalan These are not random ordinary monkeys.. the band around the waist denotes this claim. The band is called kati sutra.( or SROI in religious texts). (See image below). Its is without this waist belt, a person is not qualified to partake in Smarta and Shrauta (vedic) poojas.

@TheGopalan Pranaams V ji.. saw you post, read the comments, wasn't satisfied with replies. Replies didn't feel right in my soul..so I set abt researching this theme for myself.. and I have found the answer, but the problem is trying to explain it.. in every image, resides a deep theme.

@TheGopalan Sir I read the replies to this image & none are correct.. this relief goes beyond straightforward visuals. It's a metaphor, an allegory set in stone & I believe unless one is a not a shishya or Guru of Sri Vaishnava or inducted into the sampradaya, one won't understand the meaning

This beautiful relief of a horse is made of FIVE women! And Manmathan is riding on this horse! Again this relief is on an another niche on the exterior wall of the temple and it is difficult to locate it! Srivaikuntanatha Perumal temple, Srivaikuntam
