Today marks the US release of ‘Goof Troop’ on the SNES (July 11th, 1993). This puzzle game, which was based on the animated TV show, offered co-op. It was also one of the first games designed by Shinji Mikami, who is most known for the ‘Resident Evil’ series.

July 9th, 2013 (12 years ago today) was the release of ‘Defense of the Ancients 2’ (DotA 2) on Windows. This multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) has become a staple in the esports scene. It’s been one of the most-played games on Steam and had over a million current players.

‘Slapstick’ released on the SNES in Japan on this day 31 years ago (July 8th, 1994). It eventually came to North America in October as ‘Robotrek’. This JRPG from Quintet/Enix has players taking the role of an inventor’s son who fights battles with three robots he builds.

20 years ago today (July 7th, 2005) gave us ‘Killer7’ on GameCube & PS2. This action/adventure game from Grasshopper Manufacture & Capcom was Goichi Suda’d first game launched outside of Japan. It offered a unique, arthouse style & an unconventional “on-rails” control scheme.

Today is the 10-year anniversary of the release of ‘Rocket League’ (July 7th, 2015) on PS4 & Steam. This multiplayer vehicular soccer game was developed by Psyonix as a sequel to ‘Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars’ (2008). It was later ported to other platforms.

‘Crackdown 2’ released 15 years ago today (July 6, 2010) on the Xbox 360. The sequel to the 2007 ‘Crackdown’ follows the same third-person, open world gameplay, but allowed 4-player co-op. It reviewed positively, although most critics said it mimicked the original too much.
