Launching my next big thread today, and it’s all about my other favorite TV show,
@lawandordertv
!
My 100 Favorite Episodes of ALL TIME!
Follow this thread from 100-1!
Since they aren’t gonna single him out for this accomplishment, I guess I will:
I’m headed to ISU this weekend to see my kid graduate with a BA in Business Management — in 3 years (3.45 GPA)
Without a single credit before college.
He’ll get his MBA next spring. Before age 22
One travel team. One high school team. One college team.
Loyalty hasn’t always been the easiest path, but it’s the path he’s chosen. As a dad, I couldn’t be prouder.
Kid has unfinished business.
Congratulations to my son on being named League Player of the Year for a 2nd straight season! Last year, he was the City League’s top player. This season, he takes home the Eastern League honors.
Obviously it’s very low on my list of priorities today, but I turn 40 today. Losing someone close to you so young puts a new perspective on the milestone. Our time here is finite and not guaranteed. Be impactful. Find love. Make a difference.

@MikeLevinCA
greeted with a hero’s welcome at the Hilton Del Mar, where he is prepared to give his victory speech, after an introduction by Francine Busby.
At the halfway point of his HS career, AJ is building a legacy of winning:
2-time CIF Champion
City League champion
City League POTY
All City League 1st Team
Will cross 1K points as a junior
4.0 GPA, 1250 PSAT
Finish strong, son.
My kid was offered by a team that was in the D2 national title game and is actively recruiting D1 kids to make another push at a title run. Do I believe my kid is a D1 prospect? Of course. PLNUs sincere interest in him confirms it. I’m ecstatic!
Big week for you, kid. We moved you up to Idaho, and learned you were a unanimous All CIF 1st Team Selection. I know you don’t say much, but I know how much it meant to you, and you proved it with your game.
Proud of you, son.
I’m who I am today as a direct result of the influence of Harriet Burgin
She doted on me, lifted me up, didn’t mince words when she felt I strayed off course but still showered me with unconditional love
After 101 years, she’s finally at rest. Thank you grandma. For everything
Last year, AJ was league player of the year, but faded in the playoffs. We talked about it before the start of the playoffs. He vowed to not have a repeat.
In the 4-game run: 26 ppg, 13.25 rpg, 6 apg, 57% FG
It’s been a great 9-year run with
@GamepointNation
. Started out as an 8-year old playing 10u. Over those 9 years, he’s only wore 2 team jerseys: GP and San Diego High. This chapter is done, and he’s better for the journey. Well done, kid.
Just reflecting on what he's accomplished to this point:
2x CIF champ
2x League Player of the Year
3 straight CIF semifinals appearances
Nearing 1,500 points for his career
4.0 student
I'm truly blessed to call him my kid.

I love this picture and what it stands for. It was just after AJ hit his first 3, and I was grinning from ear to ear. And my smile was because you couldn’t tell him apart from the other guys. He looked like he belonged. Because he does. Thanks
@SportsOnTheSide
for capturing this.
Last 3 games for little man:
14 pts, 11 rebs, 10 assists
15 pts, 11 rebs, 5 assists
30 pts, 11 rebs, 6 assists
Most important stat: 3-0, heading into one of our most important games of the season. Keep it up, kiddo.
Dear movie theaters,
Here are some simple steps to get people back to the theaters:
1. Lower ticket prices
2. Lower ticket prices
3. Lower ticket prices
4. Lower ticket prices
5. Stop overcharging for popcorn
Greedy bastards
2021 San Diego G AJ Burgin
Regular season stats:
19.0 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 5.9 APG
Eastern League stats:
21.4 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 6.4 APG
5 triple doubles
1,399 career points
Vying for a 3rd CIF title
It’s go time...
Can’t tell you how many people told me not to send AJ to San Diego High. Why wouldn’t I? The International Studies School is amazing, it’s five minutes from home, and he’s part of the school’s best hoops team in a decade. It was an easy decision.
We think we’ve prepared our kids enough for life on their own until you come to their dorm and they got an open can of enchilada sauce in the cupboard. “How was I supposed to know you had to refrigerate it?” 🤦🏾♂️
I also know that a lot of people talk about the new wave of Latino hoopers who are changing basketball. Proud that my son, who if you didn’t know is 1/2 Mexican, is part of that group.
Idaho State signee AJ Burgin has shined in his return from injury, notching 18 double doubles and 4 triple doubles (18.5 ppg, 12 rpg, 6 apg) while leading San Diego to a 3rd place finish in the Western League.

@Ajburgin1
Last night was a big one in the Burgin household.
Big brother handled business on the court. Baby sis stole the show at halftime. Here with my sister, who drove down from LA for the game.
My youngest is 11 today. Anyone who knows me knows how important she is to me. My sweet, effervescent, smart, sassy, caring and generous princess! Dad loves you!
Shooter, scorer, playmaker. My kid continues to evolve. Not bad for a kid three months removed from his 15th birthday. 2021 G AJ Burgin highlights vs Bonita Vista.
The SDSU community is mourning the loss of a legend following the passing of Carl Weathers.
I had the solemn privilege of writing the university's obituary. I can only hope I came close to doing his career justice.
@AztecFB
@jdwicker
Even more proud of a comment a referee made recently when he said that AJ was the nicest, most respectful kid he ever officiated. He's a very good basketball player, but an even better person, and I am blessed beyond measure to call him my son.
Idaho State freshman G AJ Burgin finishes with a career high 15pts, including 3/4 from 3, to go along with 3ast/2rb in the Bengals win over Bethesda.

An emotional conclusion to an incredible chapter of my son’s life. The program truly has been a blessing for our family and we will always be eternally grateful.
It’s been a nice stretch for my son who has been shooting 50% from the field and 45.45% (10-22) from deep over his last 7 games. Some highlights from that run.
My firstborn is no longer a teenager! 20 years ago at 11:34 am, the trajectory of my life changed forever. AJ, you represent the very best of me, and I'm thrilled at the man you're becoming. See you soon!
Dad
This year alone (Summer ‘23, Fall ‘23, Spring ‘24) he took 50 units.
50.
All while helping his team make the conference semifinal and training kids in the community.
That’s not ordinary.
Some clutch moments for my kid in the championship game vs Southwest EC...he hits a 25-footer at the halftime buzzer to give his team the lead, and then hits what proves to be the game-sealing layup with 18 seconds left in the 56-54 win
A coach told me that parents frequently praise AJs leadership. He helps the youngsters during the hill workout, virtually tutors them during the pandemic. He just turned 17. Can’t express how proud he makes me.
@coachlooneyisu
is getting a borne leader of men.
AJ with a “play on” push, followed by a “rip” crossover that would make
@JimJonesBB
smile and nailing the pull-up J vs Hoover. This is pretty advanced stuff for a 14 year old playing HS varsity!

Journalism has been my life's passion since writing
@BillPlaschke
an essay about why the Lakers should keep Nick Van Exel, and it's been my life's work for the past 15 years. And while my full-time job changes tomorrow, I'll always be a storyteller. It's been real. -30-

@Pumphrey6K
is back at SDSU, but instead of breaking records, he is breaking down X’s and O’s for the next generation of Aztec football players while working toward his master’s degree.

What a game! Manning the point in his first varsity game, AJ was the catalyst of a 64-61 upset of Kearny. 14 points, 5 boards, 5 dimes and loads of composure. Keep it up, kid!
Still buzzing over last night’s game. I forget at times that AJ still cant drive until September, but he steered his team to its first league title since Jeremy Tyler was on campus and AJ was in preschool. Couldn’t be prouder.
A good story is developing at San Diego High, for local reporters:
A school with a storied sports history that had been all but forgotten after decades of decline is in the midst of a renaissance as football, boys basketball and girl’s soccer win CIF crowns!
Lot of you guys have seen Sam, but just know her as “AJs sister.” She’s a superstar too! Dances, and apparently to the surprise of even my family, she’s got a beautiful voice. Singing
@itsruthb
’s “Lost Boy” on the way to hoops. Enjoy!
