My dad, if left to his own devices, would still be manually fixing errors in the code he made on punchcards with scotch tape. I have never seen a man be more of a luddite about technology. He opens programs with bash/command shell commands. He is simply build different (insane).

Let me be clear that in my family, this is the liberal opinion. My brother has two monitors but really only ever uses his main one, my mother has used a single monitor setup since the 80's, and to my father the idea of using the GUI is a sin on the level of Prometheus's theft.

If you need more than two monitors, you're doing something wrong. I include 6 in that, because if you're using 6, you're doing something so far beyond the scope of mortal comprehension you are basically a Lovecrafting horror. 6 is an abomination from the outer stars.

We've only played six-player games, because we don't own a table large enough for an 8-player game. No one in the friend group does. 8 player games generally require custom carpentry. Here's our table and an example of a table with barely enough room for TI4 8-player.

The base game is 200 bucks and the other expansion is 125 dollars. To play the full game now costs as much as a launch-day console. To be fair, there are basically no games that play like it in existence. The closest comparison I can make is Civilization 7. It's HUGE.

Me: "Video games are crazy expensive, Magic: The Gathering is getting priced out of where I want it to be, fuck this man, why is everything so much more expensive?". Me, looking at the 10-hour board game I play: "Oh, the new expansion is only 130 bucks. That's not bad."

I sometimes see people dismiss video game reporting as useless. The reason people with knowledge of video games are essential to their newsrooms is that if you don't have them, you end up writing articles that include statements like this:.

Oh also I guess this could be another part of Siege lore, it's been long enough, and I feel like it should be known: There is a huge Siege content creator who deliberately ordered this burger. I will not name names out of respect. They ordered "No bun, extra jalapenos."

The Siege community team gave me an actual, physical award for, quote, "Excellence in Gay Shitposting". This was the direct, word-for-word explanation; the community team member refused to elaborate further when I incredulously asked for further information.

This shit happens all the time. I dealt with it when I worked at a non-profit. Someone says they're good for a sizable chunk of change, it never appears, and then you gotta talk to your lawyer about whether a lawsuit is appropriate, because it could take years to see a penny.
