I hate comparing cast members to each other; it’s intensely reductive and a disservice to all involved but considering it’s generally the idea beyond this promo, I will say…I can see why @JonSchneider24 thinks Jeremy might work in a sort of Bobby Moynihan mold now.

24 years ago, on Oct. 6, 2001, a young Will Ferrell donned an American flag thong and taught a nation still reeling from 9/11 how to love and laugh again.

Outside of that? Rough episode. Real rough. I felt no real change of pace out of this and two back to back table sitting sketches (one nakedly desperate to capture cultural zeitgeist with no real joke) was dispiriting. It’s the same show, man. We can’t keep living like this.

I always want to go easy on SNL premieres, I know they’re traditionally rusty so I’ll focus on the positives: the cold open was sharper than usual writing-wise. Sharpen the blades further. Also, Ashley is the anchor of the show right now. The quicker they learn that, the better.

And suddenly, the show finally snaps back into focus as soon as Ashley appears on screen and starts acting

That was a serviceable cold open?? I chuckled a few times??? My lordy. I hope this points towards a better future for these things

Has Colin ever had this much lines in a single sketch ever? It's kinda fascinating this deep in his tenure

This is sweet but also kinda funny, knowing that he carrying her back to work on what is generally agreed upon to be one of the worst episodes of SNL ever
Chris Farley surprising Sarah Jessica Parker and Conan when he burst on the show to carry her back to SNL where she was their upcoming host 😂 Love how giddy Parker is to see him lol

There’s two intentions out of the words “we hit both sides so I’m just keeping my head down and focusing on the jokes” and lemme tell ya, it doesn’t ring as anything other than sniveling defeat out of the mouth of Master Satirist Jimmy Fallon

It’s in this moment that I realize Millennials have always had their own Mr. Beast and it’s Jimmy Fallon
Jimmy Fallon says he plans to "keep my head down" and avoid getting overly political on "The Tonight Show": “We hit both sides equally, and we try to make everybody laugh, and that’s really the way our show works. Our monologues are kind of the same that we’ve been doing since

20 years ago. Oct. 1, 2005. Steve Carell/Kanye West. It’s the start of the show’s 31st season and they’ve just added two new cast members to the show. Someone named Colin Jost also joins the writing room.

Sad to hear Auguste White is moving on though. She had a damn solid run. And I guess this means that Carl Tart is still sticking around?? I’ve been worried that Ego’s exit would cause him to dip out

Hiring two people from the Harvard Lampoon is the biggest “back to fundamentals” move I’ve seen from this show in ages. I’m intrigued.
EXCLUSIVE: #SNL has added seven new writers ahead of Season 51. - Jack Bensinger ("Rap World") - Jo Sunday (Just for Laughs) - Maddie Wiener ("The Tonight Show") -Rachel Pegram ("Harley Quinn") - Claire McFadden (Second City) - Maxwell Gay and Tucker Flodman (Harvard Lampoon)
