Thames21’s Claire Robertson explained to This is Oxfordshire that the overall quality is marked against a “strict” rating system. She said: “The rating system is strict, in that if only one sample out of 20 exceeds the threshold levels, the bathing water gets rated 'poor'.⬇️

When an area gets bathing water status, the Environment Agency must test the water in that area between May-September and make results public. Any poor results would trigger investigations to identify and fix the pollution source.⬇️
