While this is an interesting mix from a business perspective, there are serious national security (hell. global security) concerns to contemplate in this reporting.

Only in the very short term. White collar workers will be targets of gen-AI and the first round of agentic AI. However, physical AI is immediately around the corner. Hundreds of thousands of factory and other blue collar jobs will be chewed up.

Google DeepMind just dropped this new LLM model architecture called Mixture-of-Recursions. It gets 2x inference speed, reduced training FLOPs and ~50% reduced KV cache memory. Really interesting read. Has potential to be a Transformers killer.

Grok 4. Yep, it's a beast of a model; proving there's no strategic advantage in better models. There's always a better model. But the yapping about AGI is tiresome. (1) There's no such thing; (2) We probably aren't close; (3) We have the wrong hardware & wrong compute paradigm.

Anyone claiming consciousness arises from X or Y or Z is full of B.S. We have no idea what consciousness is or how it arises. Period. That said, this crackpot is probably right that the brain is essentially a frequency-based computer.

“Our brains run on music.” 🎵 - MIT’s Earl Miller argues the cortex fundamentally computes with waves, that consciousness arises when its computations generate waves patterns that unify cortical activities. Such analog computation, he says, is information rich, uses vastly less

People smart with AI seem to assume the brain also uses latent space embeddings. This is unlikely. 1. The brain is not a numerical computer.2. Latent space vectors are energy intense to compute.3. Sparse & distributed neural architecture is ill-suited for dense vector embeddings

To replicate a single neuron's contribution to intelligence would require simulating ALL of the processes running in the cytoskeleton (microtubules). The scale of this is computationally impossible with every computer on Earth, so we simulate neurons with this:

Let's be clear about a U.S. 6th generation fighter. NO PILOTS - fully autonomous (not remote controlled). * Maximum air superiority.* Max ground attack operations.* Max speed & stealth.* Max swarm. 2030s doctrine: BOTS BEFORE BOOTS

Either. A) Stop building bike trails/paths and rip out the ones we have (because bikers refuse to use them). OR. B) Bikers need to be more involved in planing & design, so we build paths they will actually use. Biking on a busy road with a path 10’ away is stupid & dangerous.

She's hinting that Tesla will be a "come and gone" competitor defined by audacious claims. Wow, is she in for a brutal wakeup. Unless she can pivot quickly, Waymo won't even be a dot in Robotaxi's rearview mirrors (if they had them).

Waymo Co-CEO: “Trust is hard to build and easy to lose. Not just Tesla, but there have been other companies that have come and gone that have had very, very audacious claims. We’ve learned the amount of humility needed: Ultimately, it’s the riders who are going to decide.” . Why

Bernie Sanders says that if AI makes us so productive, then we should get a 4 day work week. I say, be careful what you ask for. If the value of human labor gets diluted by 1/5th, then expect compensation to be adjusted accordingly. And 1/5th (20%) is on the low side of AI.

How to RIF right. Reducing workforce without major changes is bad. RIFs suck, but when you must cut, do it in parallel with sharp change. Burn the ships. Change everything. Embrace minimalism and lean. Put people with different skills in charge.

Who needs nuclear proliferation when your 15-year-old can design their own ethnically selective bioweapon in your basement. Not their yet, but might want to ready a whole bunch more of those bunker busters.

How to play the lottery smartly:. S1: Don't. Ever. Play. It's a predatory tax on vulnerable people. S2: Buy 1 ticket only. Yes, 5x chances with 5 tickets, but 5 times zero = zero. And your chances are effectively zero. S3: Do it occasionally for fun an entertainment only.

How is it that every so-called news story about Tesla on Apple Stocks is insanely negative despite the crushing success we are seeing with the company’s vision-based autonomy?

"Because AI processes 85% of client responses for margin calls, the operations team avoided hiring 30 new people". Slow down everyone. This doesn't mean GS will reduce human labor, it means they don't need that ops team. Money saved here = money over there.

I don't know why main stream science (MSS) is so reluctant to look inside the single cell for clues to system-wide function, whether consciousness or computation. But this is encouraging.
