Assorted drawings I've done but maybe not shared. Fighting elephant seals, the Paleogene pantodont Coryphodon, a Black rough-necked monitor, and the Triassic trilophosaur Teraterpeton.

#Croctober Day 12 Probably among the most obscure recently extinct crocodilians is Aldabrachampsus, a small (up to 2.5 meter) long animal of uncertain placement with a pair of rounded squamosal horns that lived on the Seychelles around 100.000 years ago
For #Croctober Day 11 we got Confractosuchus (art by Julius Csotonyi) Confracto once inhabited the Winton Formation of Australia, but unlike the tiny Isisfordia was sizable enough to even feed on dinosaurs. Which we know because we found the bones of an elasmarian in its stomach

Our fun fact for #Croctober day 10 Crocs even developed beaks at some point. Macelognathus (art by Scott Reid) is an early crocodylomorph from the Morrison Formation who's lower jaw tip was flattened and beak like with teeth further back in the jaw.

Weekend scenes from camping - and a pub trip - in rural Buckinghamshire. The pub is The Royal Standard, well known due to its role in Hot Fuzz :)

@TetZoo Coincidentally, I just visited the paleontology museum in Tarija, Bolivia - where sloths account for some 40% of the exhibit! (Lestodon among them, too)

~3 years ago, I was invited to contribute to a book on the state of lions in Africa, an effort bringing together >30 scientists, conservationists, writers, and wildlife photographers. Very exciting that it is now about to be published by Penguin Books! https://t.co/OuWWML6qxg

Btw. for people not aware: if you post about your copy of social media (and tag me) you can get a free wish on a #paleostream. We don't have a marketing budget but I want to reward word of mouth =)
I've been meaning to review this amazing 2020 book... Europasaurus: Life on Jurassic Islands by Oliver Wings and Joschua Knüppe, published by Dr Friedrich Pfeil. It's astonishing, a triumph of #palaeoart that portrays its animals and environments in really innovative ways... 1/n

Another friendly reminder that Europe was once graced by giant vipers of which the largest thus far seems to be Laophis crotaloides, a 3-4 m long beauty weighing maybe up to 30 kg. Considerably heavier than a king cobra, and just imagine the fangs and the venom yield!
