With the FRLG port, every mythical usable in SV is now obtainable through normal switch gameplay apart from Zarude. The odds of reg J being the official format before champions is alarmingly high.

I don't think this was a hard rule or anything, I just think artists were shown the legendaries and were directed to keep their colours in mind when designing the rest of the cast.

The only one of these motif theories I genuinely hold belief in is that the legendary trios in gen 4 inform the colour palette for the rest of the region. There's an abnormally heavy lean toward blue, yellow, pink/purple compared to other regions.

I think a big reason raichu Y is bothering me is - the tail is right there. Grab it and wave it around like a wand/baton/sword! Have some added flavour beyond reverting to pikachu! What is mega about you?! Nothing! Dumb orange rat!
