Today the UAE's Hope spacecraft reaches Mars after a 6-month journey and enters its orbit. It will study the red planet, focusing on local weather patterns. This is the first of three space missions that will reach Mars this month, the other two are led by the US and China

Today, 54 years ago, during a rehearsal for Apollo 1's planned flight to the Moon, a fire broke out, killing all three crew members. Their names were Gus Grissom, Ed White II and Roger Chaffee and their names will forever be tied to humanity's great space successes.
