Our final Value is Longevity and Commitment! We want to feel that there is a true commitment to the involvement of young people in the organisation - not that we are a trial or tokens. #InvolvingYoungPeople

Our favourite suggestion for tracking progress was @TNLComFund's of writing every decision, aspect of culture, thinking that a young person has influenced. Soon you will have a long tangible list of the impact involving young people has on the org. #InvolvingYoungPeople.

A finding when developing the Values were that orgs find it hard to measure the progress of the working relationship between the organisation and the young people. This is not to say they were struggling to find successes but, that it requires intentional recording.

There are no hard and fast rules that can forge a perfect working relationship between young people and organisations so there needs to be plenty of space to reflect on how everybody involved feels. These reflections go towards growing and adapting. #InvolvingYoungPeople

Most of all, there should be fun! We have regular socials at the IYPC - many of them on Zoom over lockdowns. These can be art nights, online escape rooms or just chats over a takeaway. Whatever you do, take time to socialise and celebrate. #InvolvingYoungPeople

In the words of @adriennemaree - 'Clarity is kindness'. This does not mean there has to be strict parameters to the breadth of the programme, just that the hopes, wishes and expectations for the programme are made clear and in collaboration with the yp. #InvolvingYoungPeople

A youth consultancy role cannot work without the trust and transparency - trust that we are working with the full information and that our voice is truly valued and not a token. We can tell the difference by the way! #InvolvingYoungPeople
