1) this is unconstitutional .2) it’s also been shown to be ineffective as a deterrent. It is the likelihood of a punishment that is the deterrent, not the severity of the punishment itself. If people don’t believe they’ll be caught, the punishment is irrelevant.

The human in the loop principle doesn’t work if the human in said loop isn’t going to do its due diligence 😭 . Please don’t throw your careers away bc you were lazy.
Yet another case (this time in Gauteng) of lawyers using AI to do legal research. Unfortunately, the AI generated fake citations. As it was it was done in the KZN case, the lawyers have been referred to the Legal Practice Council for potential professional misconduct.

When you get looked at as a cheap source of labour and aren’t mentored properly, that’s when the problems start and it filters through everything and next thing you know the profession is saying law graduates and CAs are weak and incompetent and the buck passing starts.

There is no book or course in the world that will train a CA the way a good principal will. If you’ve got a principal that respects that you’re a future attorney and need to be set up for success, and you match their energy-you’ll be just fine.

I’ve seen a lot of buck passing in the legal profession when it comes to the “quality” of CAs. Law firms blame universities, universities blame PLT, PLT blames law firms etc.
