It is with great sadness that HSF has received news of the death of Charles Simkins. He had been in hospital over the past few months and had, until his illness, been head of research at the Foundation, for 8 years. See HSF's tribute to Charles, here: https://t.co/1daZuBZHX4

Leisure is hugely important - hanging out with friends, meeting new people, hearing different perspectives, acquiring knowledge, becoming recognised as knowledgeable, & participating at local events In every single country (bar one), men have more leisure time.

@nandinigupta201 @JustinSandefur The income gains to academic high-achievers from migrating average US$40,000-75,000 per year https://t.co/pULxTHTbt8. I don't know of any other action that raises incomes that much. Of course other things than income matter, but revealed preference shows many want to migrate.

Could we just get local officials to promise this now - Before you declare schools stay closed for 2021-2022 school year, you will close bars, gyms, & indoor dining. Seems like a good thing for officials to pre-commit to, no? #schoolsbeforebars
