So excited to be part of the team presenting the 2nd Annual “In Tune With Your Brain” Symposium! This year’s theme is “Music and Emotion”; we explore how composers make us feel the full range of emotions, and how music facilitates healing and wellness.

Scientists analysed half a million songs released in the UK during from 1985 to 2015. They then correlated chart success with the acoustic features of the songs. Finding: Fewer happy songs, more sad songs, more danceable songs. https://t.co/3sRC4RfgCY

Great quote about high school band (from Dagaz, 2012): “Students created a culture of trust and acceptance of individuality that provided a strong support group, which many students related to a feeling of family”. This was absolutely my experience in high school band.

Today I had the piano tuned and the drains cleaned and finished a knitting project and picked up a sick kid from school. In other words, zero actual work was done. “Working from home” is clearly a misnomer.

Last night I took the kids (12 & 15) to see @tallisscholars at the Chan centre. So gorgeous. Two thoughts: 1) grateful I have kids willing to spending an evening listening to a capella renaissance music and 2) I need to listen to more Arvo Part.
