As we did yesterday for the men, here's a rundown of what/who to watch w/ 2026 recruiting for @IowaW_Wrestling. It'll likely be another small class for the Hawks, but there's some exceptional talent that I'm sure Coach Chun wouldn't mind filling it with.

Per @USAWrestling, U23 World teams have now been finalized for this October (20-26) in Novi Sad, Serbia. Among them - a trio of Hawkeyes will compete in women's freestyle:. Brianna Gonzalez - 53kg.Kennedy Blades - 68kg.*Kylie Welker - 76kg. *Reigning U23 World champ (72kg).
The 2025 U23 World Team has been finalized in all three styles ahead of competition in Novi Sad, Serbia, October 20-26.

Ok I lied. Here’s one last (last) bit of wrestling news for today. Israel Borge - a Westlake, UT native ranked #11 overall in the 2027 class - has released his initial list of schools, with Iowa among his top seven. We’ll see how the process unfolds for the 138lb junior-to-be.

I can report that as of this afternoon a University of Iowa spokesperson has now officially confirmed Gabe Arnold is no longer on the men's wrestling roster. The program does not have any additional comment at this time.

As you may have seen floating around today, Gabe Arnold has in fact been dismissed from the Iowa men’s wrestling team - he confirmed to @JustinJBasch. The Hawkeye program has had no official comment as of yet. Arnold, an NCAA qualifier at 184lbs, was 31-8 across two seasons.
Gabe Arnold will be departing from Iowa after being dismissed from the team, he confirmed to me. He'll begin looking right away for a new landing spot with his remaining 3 years of eligibility, adding that he has nothing bad to say about the program that did a lot for him both
