Congratulations to Justin Plourde, a Taché Fire Department firefighter, for making Ace Burpee’s Top 100 Most Fascinating Manitobans in 2025 for his work in fighting the wildfires.

Taché Fire Department was proud to serve its constituents by responding to 138 emergencies calls across our municipality in 2024. Behind every call were dedicated volunteers and professionals committed to training, preparedness, and compassionate service.

On December 17, firefighters at the Landmark Station participated in a communication and radio drill. After viewing a video regarding the importance of clear instructions and communications, firefighters were paired for an activity focused on relaying clear instructions.

During the holiday season, Taché Fire Department reminds everyone to celebrate safely. This time of year is filled with lights, cooking, and gatherings but they also increase the fire risks. A few simple precautions can help keep your home and loved ones safe (see photos).

On December 3, firefighters at the Landmark Station worked on ladder maintenance and deployment. Each member deployed the ladder to the peak of the fire station roof. They worked on solo techniques to deploy a two fly ladder.

Taché Fire Department would like to thank Dawson Trail Motor Inn for hosting our Fire Department’s Christmas party last Friday evening. The dinner was absolutely scrumptious, and the service was excellent. Your hospitality helped make the evening truly enjoyable.

During the holiday season, travel and overnight gatherings can mean your family isn’t always together when an emergency occurs. Make a plan for how you will contact each other and where you will meet, and discuss your plans for different scenarios.

On Wednesday, Nov. 26, firefighters from Landmark Station practised 2&3 fly ladder exercises at the three plex balconies at 135 Main St. in Landmark. Firefighters practiced beam raises, fly raised, single firefighter third story patient rescue carry, and more.

As temperatures begin to dip below freezing, Taché Fire Department reminds you to avoid ditches, drains, lakes, and ponds in our municipality. All ice should be considered dangerous at this time.

We’ve been enjoying beautiful fall weather, but those frosty mornings are a reminder that snow and icy road conditions aren’t far ahead. As you travel to family gatherings, reunions, and Christmas parties, Taché Fire Department would like to remind you of these safety tips.

On Wednesday, Nov. 19, firefighters at the Landmark Station hosted a tour for a group of preteen boys from Boys Club. The boys cheered on firefighters during a donning race, attempted the training obstacle course, and even practiced “rescuing” a firefighter.
