Question for turf managers out there. When you return to a property you used to manage do you want to see it in good shape or struggling? I was gutted to see a place I put so much work into completely mismanaged. Saturday morning and just 2 people on course, me and my nephew.

What I love about golf reason infinity. Buddy of mine made it through a qualifier where I used to be super. Shot him a congratulatory text and got a call back. Birdied 17 to get inside the cutline. Haven’t seen him in 20 years. Still know what he was gaming last time we played.

Another fun morning spent at the historic Langston Golf Course. I think I know where all the quick coupler valves are finally. Back to dragging hose and training moisture management. Probably my favorite part about this career.

The very flat East Potomac Golf Links doesn’t offer much contrast, BUT, the fairways are finally in a spot where even I (the harshest critic) can even admit they are ok. 175 out into 18 at the Blue Course.

With our recent wet weather have to get after it whenever we can. 43 greens complexes sprayed by about 7:15 this morning. Beating 3 starting points at 6:30AM.

One of the most difficult days of the year for me. Poppy, as his grandchildren called him, got sick right at the onset of the pandemic. I wish I had a chance to listen to some Joe Cocker with him today. 3 years later and it does not get easier. Quite the contrary. Miss you dad.
