Last week I had the opportunity to speak with the @TexasHDC and @TXHouseWHC to thank them for their sacrifice as bold freedom fighters, and to talk about one of the most important issues to me — maternal health care. Take a look at our conversation:

I am so proud of the @TexasHDC and the work that they’ve done. Their willingness to put themselves on the line to highlight the current assault on our democracy has set an example for what all of us have to do.

Thank you @LaurenUnderwood for meeting with our Caucus to discuss the Momnibus Act and how you champion maternal health issues at the federal level. The Momnibus Act would address the Black maternal health crisis in our country. Our Caucus stands ready to help however we can.

@LloydDoggettTX made the closing statement, saying Trump’s control in the U.S. government is what continues to silence these voices. He thanked everyone for speaking today.

@SarahEckhardtTX asserts “we are seeing a dismantling of the privacy right in the U.S. Which is a dismantling of democracy.”

@DonnaHowardTX closed by thanking those who testified and shared their stories. She said “this is what will help drive us toward better decisions.” She stated that Texas redistricting is just the beginning, and that Trump will not stop with Texas. This puts everyone at risk.

@VanessaForATX began closing remarks. She says these testimonies reaffirm “that we need congressional action to codify the right to make our own decisions about our bodies.”
