Today, Texas's latest draconian abortion ban goes into effect. HB7 is not about protecting women. It's a $100K entrapment scheme that will harm women and push pregnant people seeking abortion healthcare services further into the shadows. #txlege @DonnaHowardTX

We fight in the Texas Capitol against bills like SB 8 because the #txlege should do all it can to bring the LGBTQIA+ suicide rate down to zero, where it should be. But anti-LGBTQIA+ bills only contribute to our state’s mental health crisis. Stop the hate. Save lives. Simple.

Today on #WorldSuicidePreventionDay, the #TxHouseLGBTQCaucus recognizes the importance of reducing stigma surrounding #MentalHealth and promoting education on suicide prevention, especially for the #LGBTQIA+ community, who experience heightened rates of suicide. #txlege

#HerHealthInsights | Women in Texas face a 24% higher rate of cervical cancer than women nationwide. 💜 In FY 2024, 29,296 Texans received BCCS services—a 6.79% drop from FY 2023. We’ll keep advocating for BCCS so every woman has access to lifesaving screenings and care.

Chicanery: the use of trickery to achieve a political, financial, or legal purpose Chairwoman @DonnaHowardTX said it best - HB 7 is a piece of chicanery and Texans deserve better. #bansoffourbodies #txlege

HB 7 is the latest extreme anti-abortion bounty hunting bill to come from the #txlege. This bill will impact the lives of Texas women and will undermine access for women across the country.

Greg Abbott and Texas Republicans aren't satisfied with banning abortion. Now they want bounty hunters to profit from it. HB 7 creates $100,000 paydays for those who hunt abortion providers, while blocking defendants from recovering legal costs when they win. We deserve better

Texans don’t need more abortion bans; we need affordable healthcare services & personal care products. That’s why we partnered with @PPTXVotes @janesdueprocess @lilithfund @avowtexas @fronterafundrgv & @equalitytexas to make tote bags filled with items that Texans actually need.

3 years ago Texas’ Near Total Abortion Ban went into effect. Today, on an 8-4 vote the Texas House State Affairs Committee advanced the latest extreme anti-abortion bill that will further harm Texas women and impact access to medication abortion nationally.

Last week I had the opportunity to speak with the @TexasHDC and @TXHouseWHC to thank them for their sacrifice as bold freedom fighters, and to talk about one of the most important issues to me — maternal health care. Take a look at our conversation:

I am so proud of the @TexasHDC and the work that they’ve done. Their willingness to put themselves on the line to highlight the current assault on our democracy has set an example for what all of us have to do.

Thank you, President @BarackObama, for joining Texas House Democrats today. Your words reminded us why we broke quorum: Democracy isn't self-executing. It requires us to stand up and fight for it. We're honored by your support. #txlege

Thank you @LaurenUnderwood for meeting with our Caucus to discuss the Momnibus Act and how you champion maternal health issues at the federal level. The Momnibus Act would address the Black maternal health crisis in our country. Our Caucus stands ready to help however we can.
