We say goodbye to this incredible legend tomorrow. He was the 1st in our family to go to university; a highly-respected accountant who worked in London & Paris; a true intellectual; lover of classic jazz & punk rock; an understated rebel; a man I looked up to: my amazing brother
I appreciate all your comments 2day. It was a pleasure to join the incredibly hardworking

OMG thanks so much for all your amazing messages. I’m overwhelmed with your kindness. I am astounded to win. This is a victory for black British female voices & narratives in mainstream media 💫💫💫💫💫💫 Thanks
@MindCharity
for recognising my documentary
Wow. Black women can’t be shown hiking on TV without being the target of racist viewers. Some people are so sad and pathetic to have to complain to the BBC. Just WOW ===>>
This is despicable. The violent, evil racists are putting staff lives in danger, so much so they have to put their invaluable help for Black women on hold===> Ngozi Fulani's charity Sistah Space stops work over safety

So if a contributor said I want the reporter to use the C***word in the package, would they do it? The N-word carries the same ABSOLUTELY NO USAGE level of offence in my book. ‘BBC defends use of racial slur in news report’
Chris Rock made Black people the butt of his jokes in a lazy Netflix special
@nadine_writes
===>> I am less inclined to bother with watching it now, after reading Nadine's assessment
@susan_wokoma
The whole stereotype issue is something that kicks off my BBC documentary nxt wk. They have real impact on us as black women. It's infuriating. And I'm really sorry you faced this at such a young age. The realisation is demoralising
Shocked & stunned to win the Lifetime Achievement honour at the
#IPSEAwards

@teamIPSE
and thanks for doing what you do. Being self-employed is as rewarding as it is tough! We gotta hang on in there
Congratulations to Marverine Cole
@TVMarv

🏆 The judges agreed this winner’s grit, determination, shrewdness, inclusivity, & knowledge-sharing, all of which come with a smile, is a nod to their consistent professionalism.

Nothing can prepare you for standing in a room full of coffins, choosing which is best for your sibling. Nothing can prepare you for deciding the music & readings to include in their funeral service. Nothing can prepare you for writing their eulogy. But I am almost there🙏🏾
Sending love in abundance to my colleague
@kategarraway
on the death of her husband, Derek Draper. My family sends you, your children & all of your family the utmost of strength at this devastating time. May he rest in eternal peace♥️
Sorry to hear this
@Femi_Sorry
. Keep on fighting when you have the strength. But when you don’t, you must stop. Look after yourself. I am one of many who care about you, and are thankful for what you do!
Despite most Brexit voters wanting NOTHING to do with the racism and hatred supported by leading Brexit politicians, as a black man, Brexit has put me in an interesting position....
@Yanga_UK
Absolutely astonished and deeply disappointed that the BBC allowed such a slur to be aired at all. What on earth is the world coming to? Allowing this sort of vile Trump-esque name-calling to play out on primetime. And aimed at
@alexberesfordTV
. It’s wholly unacceptable IMO
Happy Birthday to my biggest inspiration: my Mum. She turns 85 today. She nurtured me, she guided me, and I wouldn’t be the woman I have become today without her eternal love & support. I’m off to spend the morning with her, so here’s a pic from last October💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

After four eventful years, my sojourn in academia is over. I'm moving on from

Journalist of the Year Marverine Cole (

) speaking about black women's experiences of mental health problems, which inspired 'Black Girls Don't Cry'.
I'm getting very annoyed with journos continually asking about when the lockdown will end. Yes, a valid question, but NOT the one we need answering RIGHT NOW, when 900+ ppl are dying daily. I want to know what the govt is doing protect our NHS staff by getting them enough PPE
UK launches £150m fund to help Ukrainians into their own homes ==> How about this for many of the non-white refugees - also fleeing war & persecution - who want to live and WORK in the UK. Some tabloids would have us think those refugees are a threat
Why has the BBC not been doing this before?’ I know plenty of talented BAME execs and staff, me included, who have been ignored or blocked for promotion. So what will be different? Let’s wait and see ‘BBC to promote black and minority 'senior leaders'
The outright denial of the lived experiences of Black people in Britain is unfathomable. No wonder some of us buckle under the strain: not being believed, not being trusted, being seen to be a risky hire, being deemed a liar, regarded as a low achiever. I am totally exhausted 🙁
Racism is real. And as long as people continue to gaslight those declaring it & scream we are lying, continue to ignore it, continue to be complicit, Black women will forever bear the brunt. No matter age, job, money or status. Racism is a mental health issue
#OprahMeghanHarry
Finally delivered my

lecture and started crying. Some students thanked me for offering up the context of Black history in UK, systematic inequalities in this country and the lack of diversity in journalism. We need a whole module on this

Lady Hussey's comments matter. Reminds all
people of colour that the racist thinking of 'If you are not white, you cannot possibly be British' is still firmly in some people's heads. It's high time to put anti-racism at the very heart of education for all across all ages
My birthday: glad to have another year of life, but sad that Fitz has not and there’s no card from him for the very first time. Everything I do is in his name. God rest you, my brother💝
Stop harassing and threatening journalists for doing their job. It’s an outrage that
@SangitaMyska
& other excellent professionals with the utmost of integrity are being intimidated by those who dislike them probing all sides of the debate on the most serious of issues 😡
Congratulations
@SangitaMyska
on winning Radio Presenter of the Year.
She’s been unable to pick up her

Black women not being listened to by health professionals. Our bodies effectively being ‘weathered’ by racism. All home truths which hit me so hard. Sensed it, experienced it. To hear it all being discussed so openly is a lot too

Just reeling from this news. Wayne Brown never deserved his life to end this way. I can only imagine the stress he was understand given news of the investigation today. May God rest his heart and soul.

Is a British pub racist for displaying golliwogs? Think how that question makes people of colour like me feel ==> Spot on
@NesrineMalik
. I am sick & tired of anyone who calls out racism, gollywogs et al, as being ‘snowflakes’ or ‘woke’. It’s not OK🤬🤬
So how do you become a professor? BA to MA to PhD at least. Willingness of universities to fund (£ and / or study time) to those with the aptitude, but who can't afford it, is where it starts ===>Only 1% of UK university professors are black
@LeadingRoutes
Tired of Farage. I wish the papers were just as outraged about youth violence, the lack of adequate mental health services & our spiralling bills. I am sure one man moaning about being cancelled by an ‘elite’ bank is not the news ppl want to hear compared to current crises
£45k is a paltry sum for her humiliation. When will the disgusting behaviour towards Black women stop? Do not let me hear any more cases like this. Sending her solidarity==> Rastafarian woman 'humiliated' by police strip order
Black activist threatened with ‘execution’ by racist British Neo Nazi group in chilling letter ==> Words by
@Nadine_Writes
. These threats are despicable. Truly despicable.
Anyone else feeling somewhat depressed, fearful & powerless over the current national & int’l news? Hatred sweeping across social media, those calling for humanity & compassion being shouted down, fires of division stoked needlessly. Surreal and very, very dark times.

Walsall girl's isolation for hairstyle is 'discrimination' ==> I am sick of seeing these school hair policies penalising only Black girls. This must stop.

I am working on the toughest project of my life: a radio documentary exploring black women's experiences of mental illness. I didn't realise how deeply it would hit me, telling other women's stories & deciphering my own. Please look after yourself & your loved ones

It is exactly a year to the day my brother Fitz took his final journey. Thinking of you always and forever, my darling bro. I wish so much you were here with us. May you rest in eternal peace, surrounded by God’s love ♥️♥️♥️

I am having one of those moments when you realise you abandoned who you really are. I am working my way back to standing in my own true nature, and it feels enlivening.
Knew it would come… but today was finally the day. As I stood in the 1st Class train carriage trying to find my reservation - a member of the

train crew dared to ask me if I *actually* had a 1st Class ticket. Fuming🤬🤬

‘Rampant wokery’ 🤨a fabricated & twisted phrase designed to demean any efforts to deliver equality & inclusion. Efforts that are much-needed, often where there may be dangerous, life-threatening and / or life-altering disparities. Comes to sthg when social justice is despised!
