The topic of nursing staff's education and their skillset to manage mental health patients on acute wards has come up numerous times in our research. Here's some food for thought:.
New article published today on nurse education. "Any move towards genericism in nurse education would.likely mean a bias towards adult nursing and.a skillset skewed by the numerical dominance.of adult nurses in the profession". (1/3) #MHDeservesBetter

This paper addresses one of the key topics of our work: how to best support mental health care staff in providing specific psychological support. @DrLeeClinPsy @IJPBS1 . #mentalhealth #positive #behavioralsupport #challengingbehaviour #healthcareworker #training.
The impact of PBS training on inpatient mental health staff has not been explored. Our new paper in @IJPBS1 shows that bespoke training can increase staff confidence in delivering model driven care. The challenge now is to see if this translates to actual clinical practice.
