According to my son, two of the W books at school are the Iliad and Animal Farm, and I am enjoying this immensely

I see a lot of understandably strong feelings about the deal and have my own concerns, deep ones But right now I want to just focus on getting back to work with my colleagues on our shared mission for the nation

Planning on being in NYC December 11-12 for an alumni dinner that evening. Any recommendations while I am in town? Always ready to meet people if anyone is interested

I love how Grant and Lincoln are looking down the Mall at each other

I’m not forgoing Amazon, but I cannot give money directly via subscription to his (to me incomprehensible) effort to turn WaPo into some third-rate knockoff of the WSJ. Makes me very sad, but much this year have done that

I like putting different images in conversation with each other - nothing profound, but enjoyable

Sorry if this is cringe, but I wish more Americans felt this way: You will hear people more foolish than wicked say, 'Our country, right or wrong', but that is a false patriotism and bad Americanism. When our country is wrong she is worse than other countries when they are

Visited the Ivy City neighborhood yesterday for the first time and I cannot grasp the vision - it’s cut off from the rest of the city by a walled college campus, a cemetery and a rail yard. Doesn’t seem promising

Just saw Blue Moon and will be savoring it for a long time, not easy but so much in there, I’m going to running over images, lines, the aesthetic, the emotions And I’m going to listen to some Rodgers and Hart this evening

Off doing some gallivanting this afternoon and evening, left home port, floating from stop to stop across city, which I have not done in far too long

The monkeys stand for honesty Giraffes are insincere And the elephants are kindly but they're dumb Orangutans are skeptical Of changes in their cages And the zookeeper is very fond of rum I need to visit the zoo when it reopens …

Seeing all the strongly held opinions on Christianity flying around here at the moment reminds me why it has splintered so much over its history

I was nervous but my viva was a simply thoughtful discussion of the topic in my assessor’s rooms in college
Most PhD students walk into their viva terrified. They don't know what examiners will ask. After 19 years as examiner, here's the truth: We ask the same question types every single time.

Now all we need is for the murder hornets to return to make this the perfect year
A truck carrying monkeys from Tulane University crashed in Mississippi Tuesday. The monkeys are known to be aggressive toward humans and they carry hepatitis C, herpes, and COVID. https://t.co/6v0CiTSzg6
