That was a question asked during a public hearing for a Washington state bill allowing hate crime prosecutions if it's committed "in part or the whole" due to perception. The bill sponsor said burning an American flag is not a hate crime.
I just want to make sure I understand the absurd level of political correctness we have reached in this country. Tearing down a pride flag is a hate crime, but burning an American flag is free speech?.
