"I want to live in a world where children of color don’t spend their entire adolescence wishing to be white. I want to live in a world where women are not subjected to scrutiny for their appearance, or their actions, or their general existence."
On this day in 1955, 9 months before Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus, 15-year-old Claudette Colvin was arrested for doing the same thing in Montgomery, AL. Her bravery paved the way for Rosa & countless others who fought to end segregation.
