Today is Raphael Lemkin's birthday. Lemkin was a Polish-Jewish lawyer who introduced the word genocide in his 1944 book, "Axis Rule in Occupied Europe." Forty-nine of his relatives died in the Holocaust. 📷️Lemkin (R) & Ambs. Amado of BR, USHMM, 1948.

Today would have been Anne Frank’s 96th birthday. Anne was born in Frankfurt, Germany to Otto and Edith Frank. Her diary was a gift on her 13th birthday. Otto was instrumental in getting the diary published. To find out more about Anne Frank:
