First thing that came to mind when I saw Soldier's pose in this panel was Sniper's dad doing a very similar one in Comic IV, "Blood in the Water."

I just realized that Zhanna is naked on the toilet in that first panel. This shouldn't have surprised me as much as it did. I adore the writing for Soldier in this issue. It's so on brand. Major kudos to the script writers.

How nice of Merasmus to permit Soldier's family to finish their toileting before they escape. The reason Merasmus's book has raccoons is probably because he lived in his castle-turned-raccoon-sanctuary with them.

Who is the more manipulative woman? (Please no Better Call Saul spoilers, I haven't finished season 6 yet.)

It's like they say: the family that shits together, stays together. I wonder how General lost his (I think? Hers? The comic never says) eye. Or maybe he's playing dress-up like his Uncle Tavish.

I don't care how buff and magically inclined he is, those kids are gonna bully the hell out of Merasmus if he babysits them.

"I will pull rabbit out of your ass with my foot. My foot will also be up rabbit's ass." The TF2 line ever. Good attention to detail by the artists for having Zhanna turn purple after being strangled for so long.

Also, interesting how Engineer has a hand that looks normal over his prosthetic but Zhanna has this robot-looking one. Perhaps it is a stylistic choice.

Notice how Merasmus's speech bubbles go from being black and intimidating to completely normal. I bet in addition to all of Merasmus's Kill Me Come Back stronger pills, Soldier also took all his Make All Speech Bubbles Normal pills.

The tattoos also don't match between Comic VII and Grave Matters, but whatever.

The wine stirrer in question. I feel like a total dumbass for not remembering that T-Bone appeared in the "Grave Matters" comic.

I like Merasmus's back tattoo of a rabbit pulling itself out of a hat. Maybe it's an analogy to how Merasmus built himself up from a lowly toilet-wine stirrer to the toughest prisoner in the correctional facility to whom everyone bows. Or maybe it's just a silly tattoo. Who knows

The poster says: Seance to remember loved ones by! Smoke mirrors (if there is an "and" in here, it is tiny and obscured by the punching bag) *text I can't make out* Why, yes it is!

I (probably like many of you) flipped my shit when I saw this page for the first time. I didn't expect to see Merasmus again at all in the comics, much less as anything but a wimp.
