Although Liam Clifford got the start vs FIU, a snap share between him and Troy transfer Devonte Ross essentially flipped from Game 1 (32/18 in favor of Clifford to 35/13 in favor of Ross). Ross caught a 42-yard TD Saturday, continues to gain distance from a summer injury issue.

Penn State sophomore Dejuan Lane led all safeties in defensive workload Saturday vs FIU, trailed only A.J. Harris among DBs. Lane played 20 fewer snaps in the season opener, when his usage ranked fourth among safeties. Zakee Wheatley and Antoine Belgrave-Shorter started vs FIU.

CB Kenny Woseley Jr. is an emerging piece for PSU's defense. Even with Zion Tracy back, the redshirt freshman played significant snaps in nickel role but also got a bunch of work on the perimeter this time. 30+ snaps in both games. Already over 2024 defensive snap total (51).

Considered the top 2024 tight end recruit in @247Sports rankings, Luke Reynolds entered Saturday with 11 career catches. Reynolds led Penn State with nine targets against FIU. The sophomore turned those into a team-high seven catches for 58 yards.

Asked senior Zakee Wheatley about Coleman: "I've seen a ton of stuff in practice. So this, what you're all seeing, is just the beginning. He's gonna be a great player for us for a long time. What he's doing right now, I'm expecting from him. because he's that caliber of player.".
