Other sites covered this week included making whins resource centre garden and the sunken garden at Gartmorn dam accessible for wheelchair users. We also strimmed back the invasive bracken along the lower level Menstrie community woodland paths.

Since the weather's been so hot, native wild flowers were only planted where they could be watered easily. This was possible with willing volunteers, at Ochil Youths Community Improvement (OYCI) in Tilly as well as in Alva and Tilly Glens.

Given the heat and lack of rain at the minute we've had to adjust our wild flower planting schedule. Last week volunteers strimmed back areas in the meadows we are developing. Plants were only planted if they were near to a water source.

On Wednesday the GreenGym volunteers cleared vegetation on the lower levels of the Menstrie path. A special effort was made to collect all glass along the path due to the fact it had started a fire in Alva glen last week.

This week the volunteers started by building another step on the upper Menstrie path. After we headed over to look at the bluebells and wild garlic while improving certain sections along the Menstrie community woodland midlevel path.

Last week we also cleared flat paths by strimming Himalayan Balsam and scrub at Haugh Farm and a path at Tilly near the golf range. Due to the warmer weather the strimming season has arrived!

In time for Easter we managed to chop back gorse at the top of Tilly Glen making it easier for other species to thrive. Hopefully this also helps people enjoy the walk more too.

After winter wear and tear at Mill Green in Dollar we had to revive the bark path and shear up steps leading to the river. Although this was a smaller job it was still rewarding.

At the beginning of April we also created "stepping stones" of native deciduous saplings high up on the scarp of the Ochils above Tilly. Gorse was used to protect each group of saplings from sheep and deer. A though climb but on a good day you are rewarded with fantastic views.

The majority of the steps and tbe new path in Menstrie community woodlands have now been created. Although we faced challenging situations along the way it was a very rewarding experience for all the volunteers involved.

That's a wrap on the final tree planting session of the season with our Livingston Wild Ways Well project! Thanks to patients and staff from NHS St John's Hospital and local community groups we've helped nature by planting over 500 native trees in Howden Park. @nhslothcharity

Thanks to funding from @nhslothcharity we're at NHS St John's Hospital to plant trees with staff and patients. Sun is shining, daffs are out, first chiff-chaffs of the year are singing and we've got loads of young trees to plant. Does life get better? Nature makes you feel good!
