Did splash last week for the final time. Did it three times to commit it to memory. Each time I did it I realized it's not THAT amazing. I dunno if it's just because several things weren't working but it's not amazing enough for people to be acting the way they been acting.
I think the most impressive thing about it is how it took a terrible IP and turned it into this institution when, imo, isn't THAT amazing. Like it's not THAT amazing. It's an 7-8/10 attraction at best in my eyes. Which is weird because as a kid I'd swear it was amazing.
Tokyo's is bonkers, ngl. But looking at MK's as an adult, even with all the racial bs aside, it's not that great and easily can be topped. I think our nostalgia for things make us think these things are amazing and sure it's amazing but it's not "wage a war" amazing.
All in all, I didn't really feel anything while riding those last times. I just didn't. I thought I'd feel a twinge of emotion but nothing. PatF is the better IP and arguably will make a better ride. It'll go over better long term. It doesn't have as much as a terrible history.
Oh and you are 100% okay to feel bad about Splash leaving. It sad. As we age we begin to find out many things from our childhoods were messy. What's not okay to demand it stay while ignoring it's problems because it doesn't affect you and you can look at it as entertainment
@TCJaalin
As much as I will miss it, at this point I am fine with saying goodbye. And yeah the lack of maintenance has made my last ride throughs disappointing. Just put it out of its misery at this point and bring on Tiana...but MAKE IT GOOD!
@JPAdventurer
My hope is, like with a lot of the other rides, they'll do just enough maintenance to be able to have it go out with everything functioning. If people wanna see it off I think they should let them see it at their best
@TCJaalin
The Br’er rabbit figure that hops along with your log was jaw dropping in 1994, but most rides have surpassed what it had to offer in spades (technical standpoint only). We can do better morally and creatively, and still have that long a ride in the park.
@BBindman
My favorite thing about that is how no one ever mentioned how you can CLEARLY see the metal arm holding him up on the side but everyone was cool with it. But hey God forbid you see a Comcast building behind SNW am I right
@TCJaalin
I love Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah since I was a kid. I love the music of the ride. But it’s been cruel to see how it’s been treated and she needs to be taken out of her misery and for Tiana to take her place. Especially without the bad history behind it.
@TCJaalin
It was in such bad shape in May - I wanted to be all nostalgic but I felt like it had been left as they know its going… I can’t imagine what shape its in now. My mind strayed to what they are going to put in for P&F & hope they upkeep it.
@TCJaalin
The best part in magic kingdom is seeing the Cinderella castle during the drop, which obviously will stay. The rest was such a let down when I rode in june and I was scared we would be stuck the whole time! So I’m excited for Princess Tiana and her sparkle!
@TCJaalin
Respect the opinion, my only problem with it is the drop. wish it was bigger. Other than that, I love the theming, the forced perspective, the animatronics, everything. Love how they dont force new tech on us like projectors or constant animatronic refurbs.
@TCJaalin
Splash is in a pretty sad state at the moment, no doubt about it. It shouldn’t be though. There was a time when Splash really was *that* great. One of WDI’s best.
