Tomorrow will be our last day out to football before the winter break, @FCShakhtar v Episentr, although we do have plans to continue taking the soldiers for days out over the winter.

Another record breaking day last Sunday, with 38 soldiers & volunteers having pre-match Oktober banquet & beers, and 4 more meeting us at the stadium, pushing us past 40 for the first time. Big thanks to the team at Stargorod for looking after us so well.

Yesterday 15 soldiers and family, and 12 boys from the orphanage braved the autumn rain to watch @KarpatyLvivFC and @vorsklacomua play out a 1-1 draw at Stadion Ukraina. The boys loved Lemchyk, who taught them some of the club chants, more new fans for the zeleny levy. #UPL #TCID

Secondly, to audit their sports facilities with a view to trying to upgrade them next spring. There is a football pitch with great potential, but it is suffering from years of neglect. Hopefully we can help to restore it to better condition, perhaps the basketball court too.

Firstly, to meet the boys and get to know them better ahead of starting to include them on our days out to football, starting this week. We picked berries, played basketball, and made apple juice. The boys are so industrious and disciplined, so inspirational.

Yesterday we took a trip to the Living Pearl Orphanage in Bortnyky, 70km south of Lviv, along with @DanZenchuk from @UKrainianDA . The orphanage is almost self-sustaining through a thriving blueberry business. There were two main motivations for the trip...

The number of people who stopped in the street to thank them, hug them, have selfies with them - this is really why we do it. Thank you to all of those people. What these men need most is to feel like people appreciate their sacrifice, and tonight the people of Lviv did us proud.

The feedback we get from the soldiers is that it not only helps their mental health, it helps with their self confidence. But the most important thing is the interaction they have with the general public. They think people have forgotten them. Then they see the love 😍
