At this critical juncture in the AIDS response and on this #Mandeladay, let's remember his critical intervention at the international Aids conference in Durban in July 2000, when he highlighted that it was the poor “who would carry a disproportionate burden of the AIDS epidemic,”

Comrade @Winnie_Byanyima and @UNAIDS @UNAIDS_ZAF have always been critical partners in community-led monitoring. We need to amplify, not reduce our work at this critical juncture. Data from Itireleng CHC and other health facilities will be highlighted in the data we are analyzing.
I visited Itireleng Community Health Centre in Soweto last week, to learn more about how the PEPFAR funding freeze has impacted 🇿🇦's #HIVresponse. Community members from @TAC & @RitshidzeSA shared they have been facing:.✅ suspension of outreach services.✅ loss of critical staff

David's* NGO-run mobile clinic shut after the US funding suspension & now he must go to the nearest public clinic. He says: “I'm very scared to go there without a transfer letter; I’m scared they'll turn me away”. He’s already gone 1 month without ARVs

In Dec, govt committed to provide 6 months supply of ARVs. Yet after the U.S funding suspension, some people are being sent home with just a handful of pills, making it even harder to adhere. Siyabonga from the Eastern Cape explains: #MoreARVPillsNow.
