Decided to debunk #flatearth on my walk this morning. I live in Santa Barbara, California. Which has a beautiful view out to the Channel Islands. I live near a cliff with easy beach access and simply took pictures at the top and bottom of the stairs.

i am also moving further from the islands at each location, higher elevation is further distance but i'd guess i move less than 200 feet further away so that shouldn't really be impactful, is it possible refractive conditions change around sunset too as the air cools?.

i'd say results inconclusive in terms of it matching the model. i don't know the atmospheric conditions.i don't know the exact observer heights.i don't know the exact distance.i don't know the exact target height. but one thing is clear, changing elev. changes how much is seen.

I pixel counted and my results are all over the place tbh, the first pic looks like it shows less than the pics that were lower down on the stairs and the stair pics are almost identical, not sure if i didn't keep my zoom consistent on accident or something.

let's check this against the globe model. here's what Walker Bislin's earth curve calculator says should be visible at the heights i took these pictures (using standard refraction, as i have no good estimate for the refractive conditions)

here it is from about 50 ft and 100ft (complete guesses at these heights, i jsut stopped partway back up the stairs and took pics) . very little difference between these elevations and the top of the staircase

~150ft of elevation vs ~7ft elevation (including my height in both heights. you can just baaaaaarely see the leftmost portion of santa rosa island when standing on the beach but it very quickly becomes visible by increasing your elevation

can flat earth make up its mind? does nothing ever disappear from the bottom up or does it happen due to perspective?.

can any of the #levelheadz explain this one?. I'd love to see a diagram showing what is casting a shadow on my but not the mountain which is further (laterally) from the sun than me.

alright #flatearth folks, what's the explanation for this one? the sun sets south west of me, these mountains are to the north east and yet they remain light for longer than it does down near the beach where i am, shouldn't they get dark first since they are further from the sun?

to be clear these are meaningless, just showing off how nice my views are.
