Rare disease is a topic that is close to my heart. As is the discipline of academic geography. I'm pleased to draw these two together as I believe there is much that geographic ideas & imaginaries can offer as part of conversations about the social experience of rare disease.

Huge thanks to everyone who participated - for the last few years I've gotten to be like a small child every time I've seen the post delivery person arriving, wondering if there will be any research postcards! It's also great to be able to call @Ethixbird a geographer now!.

There are some very powerful stories contained on these small cardboard rectangles.

We also reflect on our unconventional methodology and discuss the importance of creative practice enabling both new, and importantly, different, stories to be told in rare disease research.

We explore how families affected by rare disease navigate (in)accessibility and exclusion; ii) how rare disease shapes domestic geographies; and iii) the importance of, and challenges associated with, family-based identities and communities in the context of rare disease.
