My dear mother sadly lost her battle with cancer today. She beat it once and beat coronavirus. Another piece of my soul has left my body. I hope she has eternal peace and happiness. The dark cloud of grief has returned.

My mum who has stage 4 cancer has just tested positive for coronavirus, she the virus in Castlebar hospital last week apparently, as one of her carers I may also have it. She now has to stay in an isolation ward for two weeks, it’s a living nightmare. F*** covid!

Was just listening back to my mums WhatsApp audios in the weeks before she died messages saying “no visiting is allowed, you have to leave my stuff at the reception desk” thinking back, it was a truly barbaric way to treat the sick and dying and their families.

Attended my first covid restricted funeral today and while no funeral is ever pleasant, it was difficult not to gather afterwards with friends and relatives and reminisce about my mum. Immediate family could sit together in the church but not the crematorium. It’s exhausting.

Just spoke to an old ma who lives 6 miles from enniscrone beach, he and his wife can’t go to the beach as the Guards are pulling people and have checkpoints but it’s ok if you want to go to a protest in Dublin even if you live 50 miles away. Give me a break this lockdown is so BS

In 2008 I stood in Times Square on New Year’s Eve and phoned my dad to wish him happy new year, that was the last one he got to have, since then I spend each New Year’s Eve with my mum and there is no where else I would rather be. Family is everything. Happy new year all 🥂

Peri-menopause can start 12 years before the menopause. There are women in their late 20s early 30s experiencing symptoms, I have been symptomatic since 35, there are up to 80 symptoms including crippling anxiety. We as women need to talk about this more, end the stigma!
