The $10 million moves the proposed interpretive center forward in a big way, and comes as officials are preparing to celebrate Anthony's birthday.

#OnThisDay in 1968, Shirley Chisholm became the first Black woman elected to Congress. Her motto, “Unbought and Unbossed,” illustrated her outspoken advocacy for both women and minorities during her seven terms in the House of Representatives.

As the Museum and National Historic Landmark that bears her name, we do not acknowledge the pardon, because that would condone the trial which Anthony said was a great miscarriage of justice. Today is a great day to vote in honor of Anthony and voting rights activists like her.

This made her a felon, so 8f she had lived to see the 19th Amendment passed in 1920, she would still have been denied the right to vote.

All the Rochester women were indicted for voting that day. Anthony went to trial in June 1873, where the judge pronounced her guilty of voting illegally, because she was a woman.

On this date 150 years ago, Susan B Anthony and others Rochester women gathered at her house on Madison Street and walked to the polling place on West Main to VOTE!! Across the country, women di the same, asserting the 14th Amendment made (even) women citizens.

We listen to Black women's opinions on Anthony. This helps us understand Susan B. and how she was perceived, this helps us understand racism in the voting rights movement, and this provides insight into how we might become more effectively anti-racist.
