If this is the increasing belief—chronic absenteeism has doubled comparing pre-pandemic numbers to present—to what extent should we accept this reality and shift our priorities to getting families to “want” to send their kids to school instead of “expecting” it?.

Something similar happened with “going into the office” for a lot of the jobs out there. (Side note: watch for bank failures this coming year because of over exposure to commercial real estate, companies are not leasing space like they used to 😬).

Reading an article on chronic absenteeism in schools since returning to the classroom after the pandemic, and this quote jumped out:. “Our relationship with school became optional.”. I think that sums up quite a bit.

I just found a pay stub from 2010 and it’s blowing my mind how much the dollar has degraded. That stub shows that I made less than half of what I make now, but my mortgage was the same back then as it is today, and somehow we were able to live off of one income.
